Discussion 2~Chapters 5-8

In what is a make you blush, steamy scene in the book- Chapter 5 has Ethan and Merit sharing a few hot moments after Merit's hunger strikes...that is until Ethan becomes a total cad! What do you think of him so far? Strong, masterful vampire, conceited playboy.....lover boy in disguise?

At this point in the book I think Ethan resembles a powerful master with conceited playboy intentions. Obviously the man is used to getting what he wants and Merit tests that ego of his. Im not sure if lover boy is in Ethan's nature....BUT there is no doubt Merit and Ethan have some pretty hot chemistry....that scene made my toes melt.

Merit and Mallory begin some major training in these next few chapters, resulting in cool Katana Sword facts and Ninja moves. What is the most physically challenging or adrenaline fueled event/activity you have participated in?

Im not into reckless sports or climbing mountains....I have no interest in the outdoors or camping or anything that involves me being out in the wilderness...or jumping out of planes, or flying off some cliff on a cord!

I enjoy morning walks in my Nike's and that's about as adventurous as I get. The most physically challenging activity I've done is trying a Spinning class..and that almost killed me...KILLED ME!! Probably the only thing that could get me to try something scary and daring would be a pack of zombies chasing me into it....

Mallory and Catcher have sparks so intense they almost fly off the page.....what do you think of this cozy couple? Did you like the insta-love between them? Do they add to the story?
Cop
I loved the insta-love with these two, because they broke the insta-love rule...-they are both kick butt wizards...(sorcerers, what have you) and with all that sizzle- magic flying everywhere it was only natural that they would have an intense super charged reaction to each other. I think they give the novel that much needed together couple in the story feel.

Lets talk Bff's....Mallory is hands down a terrific friend to Merit, the girls relationship is real, down to earth and fun....not to mention hysterical. What is your favorite memory or favorite thing to do with your bff? Feel free to share pics!

My bff is a gal named Stephanie, I met her when I was 26 and ever since we've been inseparable. I think we can have a great time doing anything...even just chatting on the phone. I think the best memory I have was a road trip we took together tracking all the places we lived from childhood to adulthood. Or the funniest when we went to a Dinner for volunteers at our school and the lady sitting next to us was talking and spit pieces of food out all over and it wound up in Steph's mouth, I laughed so hard I almost fell over....she however thought it was the worst night ever and almost puked!!! I wish I had taken a picture of her face!

Things are starting to heat up in the mystery department...the set up at Red, Morgan's flirty appearance.... Catchers vague answers......as correlation day gets closer for Merit do you think someone is out to get her...or maybe recruit her to another house? Or PS- feed her some more food...because goodnight this girl likes to eat!!

Yeah, I take back what I said last week about being a vampire, because Merit eats more than a football player!! I want that metabolism!! I think something fishy is going on for sure, my guess at this point is someone has targeted Merit to either recruit her, use her against Ethan or feed her...

LOL!

  1. I really loved the chemistry between Cather and Mallory. I wish there were a little bit more about this two.

  2. Oh yeah, somebody def targeted her, for real! There is more to that story, I'm sure. Haha, enemy, thy name is SPINNING ! I tried one of those classes once, and I nearly died. However, I have done the rock climbing thing, and I have to say, AWESOME workout, and it's very rewarding, too!

Oh, Ethan, whatever shall we do with you?

  3. Oh your poor friend---I think I would have wanted to puke too!

Holy Moly I thought Gin from Jennifer Estep's books ate a lot but whoa is me---I think Merit could take her in an eating showdown!

  4. I think a spinning class would most likely kill me as well. I've seen some of those and my knees go out from under me just thinking about trying to keep up! Love it:) And yes, Merit and Ethan have amazing chemistry. *Fans self* Awesome questions this week Tina!

  5. LOL! Love your post hon. I am with you, the chemistry between Merit and Ethan is amazing. But like I said, I love the chemistry between Merit and Morgan (for as long as that may last :( ) I am with you about the spin class, I wouldn't even had attempted that LOL! I love your story about the Dinner for volunteers. I wish I could have seen her face. Afterward, I would have slapped that lady, that is just nasty and rude. Goodness, I would have brushed my teeth ten times over LOL! Amazing post again hon, thank you so much for hosting this :)

  6. Spinning class? I thought I was gonna die my first time on the eliptical! I agree though, I wish I had the girls metabolism! I absolutely agree with your answer for #1! I think that's part of Merit's attraction for Ethan, she's probably the first person to look him up and down and say "yeah, not interested" LOL It makes him want her that much more!

  7. I couldn't believe Ethan had the gall to ask Merit to be his mistress. I mean yeah he's a Master and all, but I thought he'd at least be more of a gentleman. This is the same guy who eats a hot dog with a knife. Come on! I love the look on his face when Merit tells him no.

  8. OMG! Grosssssss! Poor Stephanie. Does she know you are sharing this story? I'd be horrified. LOL

Oh, and I once took a spinning class and couldn't walk for days after. Never again! And, I love food too. You see, being a vampire has its benefits. :[

    P.S. I love HIMYM!

  9. Oh that is just gross..someone's chewed up dood landind in your mouth! Ugh!
Spinning class that is funny. So I am guessing you didn't become a spinning class addict?

  10. Huh. I must be the only one that's not really feeling the chemistry between Mallory and Catcher. I think it all has just happened so fast that maybe my brain is still catching up? I also haven't read ahead at all so anything that happens in the future hasn't influenced my answer. I guess we'll have to see. I like both of them and it's not that I don't like them together, I just don't really FEEL anything between them. We need to see more interaction or something.

Yeah, Ethan is definitely giving me confusing feelings. I love him but then I hate some of his behavior. I think he's trying to stick with vampire custom (he can't help it, it's ingrained) but yet his heart may not really agree with it. I guess we'll see how things go.

A spinning class sounds scary! And someone spitting food into your friends mouth?! That makes me want to throw up like right now!

  11. Ok, a road trip to all the places you've lived would just be the coolest! Very jealous of this BFF activity.

I agree that Mallory and Catcher's relationship adds a needed element to the plot. But don't you wish you had more time with them? I would have liked to be around for the initial hook-up at least. To watch the big guy fall and get all lusty...*sigh* Suppose I'll have to keep waiting for Ethan...lol

  12. I'd like someone to feed me. I think it's terribly unfair that my motabolism is not like Merit's. Why is that the case? Also, I want to go to Chicago just to eat the food. Reading those books always makes me hungry. Also, Ethan is pretty much a douche, but I agree, it's to be expected. He's way to pompous and I like that Merit serves him some humiliation. Although, the end of the scene had me wanting to kick him in his dangly bits. Except, I kind of wanted to make out with him, too!

  13. Spinning class would absolutely kill me as well, I think. I am all for exercise, but I prefer smaller portions at a time, where you don't feel like you're going to die. =b

For some reason I'm not all that into Catcher and Mallory. It would probably work for me if they were the main focus and we actually got to see their conversations and interactions beyond just Merit commenting on them.

  14. LMAO... omg your poor friend. I would've gagged and then threw some food at that woman. That kind of stuff makes me violent. lol.

Yeah, her eating anything and everything is ridiculous. My son is like that. He doesn't have an ounce of fat on him, but eats like there is no tomorrow.

  15. OMG poor Stephanie! The road trip sounds like a blast though :)

Yeah there was some toe melty action going on here too over that scene. Mmm.

  16. @Prangon- Dude..right!?

    @Julie- Catcher is sexy..:)

@Red- it was so much fun!!

@ Christy- teenage boys are a mystery to me...how can they be so skinny and eat so much and smell so bad, have you ever had a pack of them in the car after soccer practice?? Good Lord that is stinky!!

@Ashley- it took awhile for Catcher and Mallory to grow on me...but I really do them as the sidekicks in the books.

  17. @Jen- LOL, I get to make out with him first!!!!!

@Missie- girl we need to meet for real...we both love vampires, Barney (not the purple one) food, and we hate Spinning!!!!

@SaraO- it was a blast...we went all over looking at different houses we lived in....;D

@Candace and Heidi- spinning class was the pits...:( I am not a fan!!

@Felicia- I must read some of Esteps novels...I am so out of the loop!!!

@BiblioBru- Um yeah I think rock climbing would be out for me too...LOL

  18. Ha Ha! Food in her mouth! I have an aunt that does that. We've learned to duck and swerve. She doesn't spit that far anymore. That does sound hysterical from where you sat!

Yeah, to have that metabolism, God yes, I'd love that metabolism!!

Thanks for hosting this week, these questions are great!
